Lawmen say they foiled murder plot during operation in St Ann, which resulted in police fatal shooting of 3 men

The police say they foiled a murder plot during an operation in St Ann, resulting in the fatal shooting of three men in Salem yesterday.

One of the deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Dickie Bonnick of Runaway Bay.

The identities of the other men have not yet been ascertained.

Reports are that about 8:50 P.M., the police, acting on information, conducted an operation in Back Street, Salem.

The cops intercepted a Probox motor car, occupied by Bonnick and three other men.

A confrontation ensued between the occupants of the vehicle and the lawmen.

When the shooting subsided, Bonnick and two other men were seen with gunshot wounds.

They were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The fourth man reportedly escaped and is being sought by the police.

One AK-47 assault rifle and one 9 millimetre pistol were seized during the incident.

The matter was reported to the Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

Police explained that Bonnick was reporting on condition of bail, in relation to the October 2020 murder of 38-year-old Patrick Spence.

Bonnick was jointly charged with Everett Duncan for Spence’s murder.

Duncan, who confessed to the murder and also implicated Bonnick was killed.

Bonnick appeared in court on Friday, May 30, in relation to the murder of Duncan.

However, the matter was postponed until January 8, next year.

The conditions of Bonnick’s bail prohibited him from being in St. Ann, mandated him to avoid interference with witnesses and required him to report to the May Pen police station in Clarendon three times per week.
