Call for mental health support to be provided as part of Hurricane Season preparations
With the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season underway, and Jamaica’s preparations advanced, residents of St. Elizabeth and one psychologist are calling for counselling and mental health interventions to be included in the national disaster preparation efforts.
Noting the widespread negative effects of Hurricane Beryl which hit the island in July 2024 and wreaked significant havoc on St. Elizabeth in particular, they say these have caused mental distress among many in the parish.
