Jamaicans will now have up to two years to renew their food handlers’ permits
The term limit for a food handlers’ permit will soon be changed from one to two years.
Minister of Health Dr. Christopher Tufton made the announcement during his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in Parliament yesterday.
The change will become effective January 1, next year.
Dr. Tufton said this is intended to enhance efficiency and support workers in the food service industry.
Dr. Tufton added that a bi-modal modular training format will be introduced soon.
This is aimed at reducing certification processing time from three to two weeks.
