Music Producer and CEO of Billboard King Records, Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor says 99 percent of reggae artistes are lazy.
He made the comment as he weighed in on the debate on whether reggae music is being sidelined in favour of dancehall music.
Speaking on IRIE FM’s Entertainment Buzz yesterday (June 4, 2025) with hosts Kshema Francis and DJ Bones, McGregor said from his experience, it wasn’t that producers weren’t seeking out reggae artistes, but that the reggae artistes almost always have flippant excuses for not making new music.
The debate stems from a comment made by Fantan Mojah on Easy Skankin’s Road to Success with Kshema Francis recently, where he attempted to call out selectors for neglecting reggae music in their sets.
Flava appeared alongside Reggae songstress Etana on the EBuzz to discuss their charity cause in aid of the August Town community and upcoming musical projects involving international artistes Snoop Dog and Rick Ross among others.
