The police have issued over 11,500 warrants to motorists so far this year. 

This, as the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) continues its efforts to promote safety on the nation’s thoroughfares. 

Head of P-STEB, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Gary Mckenzie says lawmen are determined to clamp down on motorists who do not comply with the road traffic regulations. 

Dr. McKenzie noted that 165 people have been killed in road crashes since the start of the year.

He says this is a serious matter. 

He was speaking at the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association Road Safety launch this morning.
