Jamaican veteran all-rounder Andre Russell recalled to West Indies T/20 International squad 

The hard hitting Jamaican veteran all-rounder Andre Russell and Barbadian Jason holder have been recalled to the West Indies T/20 International squad. 

This as the regional side prepares for three T/20 Internationals against England and another three against Ireland later this month.

the 37 year old russell who has scored 2,484 runs and has taken 115 wickets across 127 matches in the T/20 format, last featured for the West Indies in the T/20 World Cup back in 2024. 

Russell and his compatriot – Vice-Captain Brandon King have made themselves available for the England matches June 6-10 but not to face Ireland June 12-15.

King recently expressed interest in also representing the West Indies in red-ball competition, however, the cricket West Indies did not confirm whether he will also be a part of the upcoming Barbados test camp.

The maroon men will be without dynamic 29-year-old batsman Nicholas Pooran, who had asked to be rested for both series, and the West Indies T/20 International outfit will also be missing the services of Roston Chase as well as coach Daren Sammy for the Ireland T/20 series.

This as they head for a Test series camp June 13-21 in Barbados—in preparation for the three-Test Series against Australia for the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy.

Meanwhile, a Former West Indies youth player, Jyd Goolie earns his firs senior team call up as he, replaces Chase for the T20s against Ireland, on the back of his encouraging performances in the inaugural West Indies breakout league. 

The squad to face England features : three Jamaicans in Russell, vice captain Brandon King along with Rovman Powell, ….which will be captained by Shai Hope, and is completed by Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal hosein, Alzarri Joseph,  Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie,  Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd.

The West Indies T/20 squad against Ireland, will be led by captain Shai Hope, with Sherfane Rutherford his Vice Captain and is completed by Jamaican Rovman Powell, along with  Keacy Carty, Johnson Charles, Matthew Forde, Jyd Goolie, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, and  Romario Shepherd.
