Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says efforts continue to increase the number of healthcare workers.

Speaking on a tour of the Omega Hospital in Negril recently, the minister said the sector is still in need of workers. 

He said to solve the problem, he has been speaking with the Ministry of Labour and the Medical Council of Jamaica to lessen the red tape delaying the employment of workers. 

Dr. Tufton  noted that delays have to be removed from the process.

In addition, he reiterated that linkages are being made with other countries. 

In the meantime, he said the visit to Omega is to enhance support and promote private healthcare options. 

The Health Minister said this will give citizens a better sense of security for their health and wellness.
