A defamation suit has been filed against Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr. Alfred Dawes, following allegations he made surrounding the acquisition of a $31.5 million neurosurgical drill for the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

The suit was filed yesterday by law firm Georgia Hamilton and Company on behalf of Central Kingston Member of Parliament, Donovan Williams and Medical Technologies Limited.

Dr. Dawes has been calling for answers regarding the acquisition of the drill.

He has questioned what he describes as a massive overpricing of the equipment and has alleged misuse of public funds.
