The Norman Manley International Airport, NMIA is reporting a significant reduction in energy consumption so far this year, compared to last year.

Environment and Quality Manager Clayton Mitchell made the disclosure during a forum at the NMIA in Kingston, on Thursday. 

The airport has been benefiting from use of solar power, with a slight drop in generation due to excess foliage cover on the panels. 

Mr. Mitchell said overall energy consumption is down by 25 percent.
