Healthcare workers at Victoria Jubilee Hospital staged peaceful protest this morning calling for end to violence against women
Several healthcare workers attached to the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston staged a peaceful protest at the medical institution this morning, calling for an end to violence against women.
Placard-bearing nurses, midwives, doctors and other staff members stood in solidarity for approximately an hour and a half at the hospital’s entrance, calling for positive change.
Today’s protest is a continuation of a series of demonstrations which took place across the island on Monday.
They stem from recent acts of violence against women and young girls.
They include the physical assault of a nurse in uniform in a road rage incident in Mount Friendship, St. Andrew, last Tuesday.
65-year-old businessman Robert Bell of St. Andrew is facing five charges in relation to the incident.
