UTECH students protest violence against women amid reports that missing student is dead
Several students from the University of Technology (UTECH) took to the streets near the institution to protest violence against women.
Their protest follows police reports that a female student who was reported missing is dead.
20-year-old Anisa Dilworth was reported missing on May 7.
Police believe skeletal remains discovered on a beach in St. Catherine at the weekend belong to the student.
President Advisor of the UTECH Students’ Union, Jenelle Gordon, said the situation is traumatizing and Jamaicans can no longer bear the brunt of such horrific incidents.
The protest also continued in Anisa’s community in Gordon Town, where the students who were dressed in black were joined by community members.
