Opposition spokesman on national security Senator Peter Bunting has described the killing of a police man today as blow to public safety.

Corporal Kamal Mayne was killed at his home in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, this morning.

In a statement, Bunting said death under such circumstances serves as a reminder of the threats faced by the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

Senator Bunting also called for renewed national focus on violence prevention and better welfare benefits for law enforcement officers.
