Reading to be timetabled for grades 1-3 in all primary schools in September
Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon says starting September reading will be timetabled from grades 1 to 3 in all primary schools.
She said this is aligned with the government’s goal to ensure that all primary school students are able to read before matriculating to high school.
Speaking in the Senate on Friday the education minister said she has received information from high schools that a number of students leave primary school without the ability to read.
She said while some schools have taken steps to improve reading that is not the case in all schools.
