Cabinet gives approval for Ministry of National Security to procure another 2500 CCTV cameras for JamaicaEye surveillance system

Cabinet has given approval for the Ministry of National Security to begin the procurement process for another 2500 CCTV cameras.

These will be added to cameras already in use as part of the JamaicaEye surveillance system.

Of the 2500 cameras to be procured, 500 of them will be installed in Portmore and Old Harbour in St. Catherine, as well as in Port Antonio, Portland.

Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang gave the update while speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the Olympic Way JamaicaEye Control Centre yesterday.

Dr. Chang said discussions are being held with service providers.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness said that under the Olympic Way CCTV expansion project, over 50 cameras were installed in the area.
