Dr. Holness assures Govt. not resisting use of body cameras by police

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the government is not resisting the use of body-worn cameras by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

His statement follows a protest by human rights lobby group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) last week.

JFJ expressed concern about the increasing number of fatal shootings and called for greater accountability through the use of body-cams.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Olympic ay Jamaica Eye control centre, in St. Andrew today Dr. Holness said it is important that police officers use body-worn cameras, however they cannot wear cameras that do not work.
