DBJ’s Former Managing Director calls for fundamental reassessment of how Tourism Enhancement Fund being utilised
A call is being made for a fundamental reassessment of how the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) is being utilised.
Former Managing Director of the Development Bank of Jamaica, Kingsley Thomas, argues that TEF’s current approach deviates sharply from its original mandate.
Mr. Thomas claims that the fund’s resources, which should enhance Jamaica’s tourism product, are instead being used for expenditures outside of its prescribed guidelines.
He insists that the TEF should be used to improve main towns and develop attractions.
Mr. Thomas explains that these must be prioritized to ensure the sector’s sustainability.
Mr. Thomas was speaking at a People’s National Party region six gathering at the Grand View Restaurant recently.
