Opposition Spokesperson on Justice Senator Donna Scott-Mottley has expressed concern about comments made by her government counterpart Delroy Chuck regarding the Political Ombudsman.

This, after Chuck stated yesterday that he was advised that an individual was appointed to conduct Ombudsman functions.

The minister has asked the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, to provide information about the person appointed to function as the Ombudsman.

In a statement, Senator Donna Scott Mottley, pointed out that based on reports, no such formal appointment had been made.

Scott-Mottley described Chuck’s announcement as being both perplexing and troubling.

She too, called on the ECJ to immediately clarify the terms of engagement of this so-called field officer Ombudsman.
