It’s expected that Jamaica will record fewer than one thousand murders this year.

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness made the statement during the opening of the Jamaica Packaging Industries’ new factory in Kingston yesterday.

He explained that going below the 1000 mark will send a strong signal that Jamaica is serious about being a safer and more secure destination.

He noted that a decline in the murder rate will help to reduce the cost of living for Jamaicans.
