Reigning champions STETHS to face Jamaica College in ISSA Super 8 T20 opener
The ISSA Super 8 T20 competition is set to bowl off on Saturday, May 3, with the reigning champions St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) taking on Jamaica College in one of the opening matches.
The competition, which brings together the top cricket teams from both rural and corporate areas, has been divided into two groups of four teams. STETHS and Jamaica College find themselves in Group 2, alongside Excelsior High and last year’s beaten finalists, Tacky. These teams will face off in a round-robin format, with only the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
Group 1 is equally competitive, featuring the two beaten semifinalists from last year’s tournament: Clarendon College and Manchester High. They will be joined by St. Jago High and Kingston College, all eager to showcase their skills and challenge for the title.
The opening match between Jamaica College and STETHS is scheduled to bowl off at 9:30 AM at Kensington Park, and it’s expected to be a fiery contest. Both teams have a rich cricketing legacy, and this match will set the tone for the rest of the competition.
Following that clash, at 1:30 PM, the action continues with Tacky taking on Excelsior in what is sure to be another riveting encounter.
