State Minister for Tourism, Delano Seiveright, says thousands of Jamaicans continue to receive an economic boost from the staging of Carnival.
Carnival’s main road march is taking place today in Kingston.
In a statement this afternoon, Mr. Seiveright sought to highlight the economic gains from Carnival, noting that it has benefited both large companies and small entrepreneurs.
He mentioned that last year, there was $4.42 billion in direct spending during Carnival.
The Tourism State Minister also touted the partnership between the private sector and the government in spreading the benefits across the country.
He said it continues to provide endless opportunities for Jamaicans from all backgrounds.
