Enterprise risk expert suggests Jamaica could see growth opportunities despite uncertainties surrounding U.S. immigration and trade policies
Despite uncertainties surrounding the United States’ immigration and trade policies, there may be opportunities for growth for Jamaica.
That suggestion has come from Chief Risk Officer at the VM Group, Denis Gray.
Mr. Gray said he foresees strategic opportunities emerging, especially in the tourism industry.
He explained that if U.S. economic policies lead to stronger domestic incomes, Jamaica could see an uptick in American tourists — 70% of the nation’s arrivals.
Mr. Gray said the opposite would hold if a U.S. or global recession were to happen.
Mr. Gray said it is a pivotal time for Jamaica to rethink its economic strategy, strengthen its resilience and position itself to thrive in an increasingly complex global environment.
