Member of Parliament for South West St. Andrew Dr. Angela Brown burke, has described the killing of a man in York Avenue this morning as a heart breaking tragedy.

24 year old shamar riley was fatally shot by police.

The cops had been on patrol in the area when they were reportedly fired on by a group of armed men.

One man, who ran unto a premises, was shot and later pronounced dead at hospital.

In a statement, dr brown burke said riley was a well known and respected member of the community.

She called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Dr. Brown Burke urged witnesses to provide information to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), which has launched a probe into the incident.
