Jamaica unveils strong team for upcoming World Relays in China

Jamaica has officially announced a powerhouse 39-member squad for the 2025 World Relays, set to take place from May 10-11 in Guangzhou, China.

Leading the charge are some of Jamaica’s most celebrated sprinters, including Olympic 100 metre silver medallist Kishane Thompson, two-time World 200 metre champion Shericka Jackson, and five-time World 100 metre champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The star-studded trio alongside a strong contingent of rising talents, are set to compete in the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x100m Mixed Relay events.

The relay teams also feature standout athletes such as Tia and Tina Clayton, Alana Reid, Natasha Morrison, Niesha Burgher, Serena Cole, and Krystal Morrison. On the men’s side, the squad includes elite sprinters like Akeem Blake, Yohan Blake, Julian Forte, Rasheed Foster, Bryan Levell, Javari Thomas, and Rohan Watson.

In addition to the 4x100m relays, Jamaica will also field strong teams for the 4x400m and 4x400m Mixed Relay events. The women’s team for these events includes Shana Kaye Anderson, Kelly-Ann Beckford, Roneisha McGregor, Shiann Salmon, Ronda Whyte, Jodean Williams, and Stacey-Ann Williams. Meanwhile, the men’s team comprises Zandrion Barnes, Javier Brown, Demar Francis, Malik James-King, Delano Kennedy, Rusheen McDonald, and Tarees Rhoden.

The coaching staff features Paul Francis, Michael Frater, and Sean-Michael Samuels while technical leadership will be provided by Mark Elliot, while Heleen Francis will serve as the team manager and safeguarding officer.
