Classes to resume at Anchovy High following death of student last Friday
Classes are to resume at the Anchovy High School in St. James today, following Friday’s early dismissal due to the death of a student at the institution.
The deceased child has been identified as grade 7 student Jesse Patterson.
Reports are that at about 11am, the student was participating in the school’s cross country event when he collapsed and died.
Classes were dismissed at 11:45 am.
Speaking to Irie FM News Chairman of the school board Nigel Goulab said that school will commence with a special devotion.
He said representatives from the Ministry of Education and the police are expected to be in attendance and grief counselling support will be provided.
According to Mr. Goulab all protocols were followed by the institution for the cross country event.
