Police efforts to develop Level 2 Emergency Communications Centre into a full C-5 Centre far advanced

Efforts by the police force to upgrade its Level 2 Emergency Communications Centre into a fully operational C5 center are progressing steadily.

This as a contract to implement the required infrastructure and support systems was signed recently and the project is underway.

The update was given by Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake, while addressing the Consul General of Miami Distinguished Lecture in Florida, USA on Thursday, where he was the guest presenter

The commissioner noted that the C5 serves as the central hub for data gathering, including footage from the Jamaica Eye system and body-worn cameras.

Dr. Blake cited, as an example, that the C5 has the capability to process data relating to a motor vehicle’s licence plate and facial recognition of the vehicle’s occupants.
