US highlights several areas of collaboration with Jamaica to address security concerns

The United States has highlighted a number of areas of collaboration with Jamaica to address security concerns.

These include, measures to target lottery scammers and assistance to the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held bilateral talks on several issues, including security, yesterday.

Dr Holness described the talks as productive and constructive, noting that the discussions focused on strengthening partnership and expanding opportunities for collaboration between Jamaica and the United States.

He said both countries reaffirmed the commitment to enhance cooperation in combating transnational crime, while ensuring the collective safety of citizens as well as mutually secured borders.

The prime minister said the talks also explored a global war on gangs, noting that there is significant policy alignment of both countries, in this regard.

Meantime, Mr Rubio assured that the US will help Jamaica with building capacity to confront the security challenges.
