The national minimum wage will increase from 15 to 16 thousand dollars per 40-hour work week effective June 1.

Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness made the announcement in parliament during his budget debate presentation on Thursday.

He said the increase represents the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline while improving the lives minimum wage earners.
