Government/Opposition Senators welcomed Jamaica’s former ambassador to the U.S Audrey Marks to Upper House

Government and Opposition Senators have welcomed the Senatorial appointment of Jamaica’s former ambassador to the United States, Audrey Marks.

Ms. Marks was sworn in at this morning’s sitting of the Upper House as a Government Senator.

In her maiden address to the Senate, she expressed appreciation for being appointed to serve.

Noting Jamaica’s continued quest to achieve growth, the new Senator pledged to use her past experiences to contribute to that mission.

She also said she hopes to collaborate with the Opposition Senators to achieve greater success for the nation.

Meanwhile, welcoming her new colleague, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith highlighted Ms. Marks’ negotiation skills and commitment to Jamaica as important factors that will contribute to her success in the role.

Senator Johnson Smith’s Foreign Affairs Ministerial portfolio has allowed her to work with the former ambassador for years.

Meanwhile, Opposition Senator Peter Bunting pointed to Ms. Marks’ contributions to the finance sector.
