PM Holness ridicules Opposition for what he described as only having promises or wishful thinking

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has ridiculed the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) for what he described as only having promises or wishful thinking while lacking the wherewithal to deliver on those promises.

His comments come in the wake of proposals outlined by Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson, during his contribution to the budget debate in Parliament yesterday.

Mr. Robinson outlined the PNP’s plans to address the cost of living, as well as ensure that Jamaicans aged 65 and older benefit from a capped, flat-rate water bill to ease their financial strain, among other things.

Speaking at a pipeline commissioning ceremony in St. Elizabeth today, Mr. Holness noted that he does not believe in wishful thinking.

He pointed out that the previous PNP administration made promises that were not fulfilled.

Mr. Holness said his administration has ensured that the country has the economic stability and resources to provide capital projects that benefit citizens.
