Education Ministry intervenes to restore order at St. James High following conflicts between leaders

The Education Ministry has intervened to restore order at St. James High School following ongoing conflicts between members of the institution’s governing body.

A video showing an apparent clash between two members has been circulating on social media.

The Ministry acknowledges the situation and states that the conflicts have led to the school’s closure.

In response, Executive Director of the National Council on Education, Merris Murray, Acting Chief Education Officer Terry-Ann Thomas Gayle and Regional Director Dr. Michele Pinnock have been deployed to meet with the school’s administration and other stakeholders to address the issue.

Portfolio Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon emphasized the need for stronger support in leadership and governance within schools.

She stressed that effective leadership is essential for the success of students and stated that leaders must never act in a way that deprives students of learning.
