Work to replace the existing track at the National Stadium pushed back to this Thursday ?
IRIE FM has learnt that the work to replace the existing track at the National Stadium has been pushed back to this Thursday, following what our sources said was a delay in the shipment of the new materialĀ to start the resurfacing.
It remains unclear if the shipment is already in the island to be cleared, or is currently on route to Kingston Wharves.
Work was said to begin this morning, 48 hours after the completion of the Gibson Relays on Saturday, as the race against time begins before the ISSA grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championship from March 25-29 and the Grand Slam Track league opener from April 4 to 6.
No further trackĀ events are expected to be held at the National Stadium over the next four weeks, however reigning Caribbean Cup winners Cavalier are scheduled to the winner of the two-way tie between the Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami and Sporting Kansas City in the Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 at the National Stadium on March 13.
