Of the 52 people killed in crashes since the start of the year, 10 were motorcyclists.

Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones made the disclosure to Irie Fm News today.

He said the number increased, following the death of a biker in a 5 vehicle collision along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston, last night.

The dead man’s identity has not yet been released.

Reports are that about 10:20 P.M., four motorcyclists were driving their bikes along the roadway, when one of them lost control of the vehicle, causing the other bikers to collide with a Toyota coaster bus.

The police were alerted and the 4 injured bikers were transported to hospital where one of them was pronounced dead.

The others have been admitted for treatment.

Dr. Jones described the incident as disturbing.

He said in order to prevent crashes, road users must exercise caution at all times.
