JLP renews call for Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby to resign
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is claiming that the People’s National Party (PNP)-controlled Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) has been engaging in what it calls partisan and inappropriate distribution of resources and access to work.
The JLP is calling for the Chairman of the KSAMC, Mayor Andrew Swaby to resign.
Members of the JLP’s Communication Taskforce told a press conference today, that based on communication from last October, it is alleged that the political affiliation of three persons was determined before a decision was made regarding assistance and paid work from the KSAMC.
JLP Communication Taskforce Spokesman, Senator Marlon Morgan said the party has seen written information related to this matter.
Mr. Morgan described the allegations as blatant bias and politicization of the municipality and its distribution of benefits.
He stated that the allegations contradict assertions by Mayor Swaby that the KSAMC has been distributing access to assistance and benefits on a non-partisan and fair basis, governed by principles of transparency.
