$25M more to complete works at Buff Bay Market, hopefully by Independence Day
An additional $25 million will be allocated to the Portland Municipal Corporation to complete the Buff Bay Market by August 6.
It is one of two markets in the parish undergoing extensive renovation through an initial injection of over $175 million. The Musgrave Market in Port Antonio is the other location being rehabilitated.
Those works started in 2023.
During a tour of the Buff Bay Market on Wednesday, Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie said his Ministry will provide $20 million while Portland Western Member of Parliament Daryl Vaz will fund five million.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vaz said he is pleased that a target of 90 to 120 days has been set for the completion of the market.
