U-17 Reggae Boyz dominate Cayman Islands 10-1, close In on FIFA U-17 World Cup spot

Jamaica’s U-17 Reggae Boyz delivered a sensational performance at the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifiers in Guatemala, crushing the Cayman Islands 10-1 in their second match to move a step closer to securing their place in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The young Jamaicans showcased their attacking prowess with goals coming from all corners of the field. Jaquan Brown opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and he later added another in the 68th minute to complete a brace. Cadriano Marsh found the net in the 25th minute, followed by a first-half goal from Zienodene McLean in the 37th minute. Seymour Reid was a constant threat, scoring twice in quick succession at the 40th and 44th minutes.

The Jamaicans continued their onslaught in the second half, with Owen Jump getting on the scoresheet in the 48th minute, Jahmarie Nolan adding two goals at 64th and 80th minutes, and Orel Miller contributing a goal in the 73rd minute to further extend the lead.

The Cayman Islands, though outmatched, had a late consolation when Jagger Alban scored in the 84th minute to pull one back for his side.

This resounding victory moves the U-17 Reggae Boyz to a perfect 6 points from two matches in Group H, following their 3-1 triumph over St. Lucia earlier in the week. It’s also the first time Jamaica has recorded a double digit victory since hammering the US Virgin Islands in August 2014.

The team now looks ahead to their final group match against El Salvador on Saturday at 8:00 PM Jamaica time.

A win in that crucial encounter will see Jamaica secure their spot in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in November. This edition of the tournament marks the beginning of FIFA’s new annual cycle for the U-17 World Cup, and it will also be the first to feature a 48-team format, expanding from the previous 24-team tournaments.
