NEPA warns of Portuguese Man o’ War along island’s coasts

The National Environment and Planning Agency NEPA is urging the public to exercise caution at coastal areas across the island.

This following reports of Portuguese Man o’ War washing ashore in parts of Portland. 

Manager of the Ecosystems Management Branch at NEPA, Monique Curtis said the Portuguese Man o’ War is often mistaken for jellyfish.

She said persons should take precautions such as avoiding contact with the Portuguese man o’ war, and wearing protective footwear when walking along coastal areas.
