Kiprich Charged!
Dancehall artiste Kiprich, given name Marlon Plunkett, has been charged relating to the lyrics he used in a song.
The St Catherine police charged Kiprich with using audio and audio-visual communication to promote criminal activity.
The charges stem from a song the artiste recorded, which allegedly endorses gang violence and paid tribute to members of the St Catherine based One Order gang. Social media users have since shared audio of the alleged song on various platforms.
Reportedly Kiprich’s management team is claiming the audio was spliced and changed to include more inflammatory language than originally intended. The song was reportedly recorded as a custom-order dubplate for a foreign-based selector, following the death of alleged One Order gang leader Othniel “Thickman” Lobban.
45-year-old Kiprich, was arrested and charged by the St. Catherine North C.I.B on Monday, February 10. The arrest comes after the artiste along with several other men were named persons of interest by the St Catherine North police.
Kiprich was given station bail and is scheduled to appear in the St. Catherine Parish Court later this month.
