Gov’t to sign agreement for information exchange between Jamaica Customs and U.S. Customs and Border Protection
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has indicated that government will soon sign an agreement to facilitate the exchange of information between the Jamaica Customs Agency and the United States Customs and Border Protection Agency.
Speaking at the recent National Security Council seminar, Mr. Holness noted that the Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement will strengthen both countries’ capacities to safeguard their borders.
Mr. Holness said the proposal is in its final stages and will soon be considered by Cabinet.
He noted the importance of inter-agency cooperation and international partnerships in dismantling organized criminal networks.
