A 14-year-old girl has died after she was attacked at her home at Palm Grove Court Housing Scheme on Thursday.

Police have identified her as Price Johnson.

Reports are that at about 1:59 p.m.,  the girl was at home when a man entered her apartment.  Screams were heard shortly afterward.  A relative who was alerted entered the residence and was later seen wrestling with a man who escaped.

The teen was found with wounds to the head and face  and was assisted to the hospital where she died while being treated.  Her relative, who was also wounded, was treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for South West St Andrew Dr. Angela Brown Burke, has strongly condemned the brutal assault on the girl.

She says the incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Expressing her outrage and deep sorrow at the tragic loss, Dr. Brown Burke stated “This is a heartbreaking and appalling act of violence against an innocent child”.

She adds that no family should have to endure such unimaginable pain and no community should have to live in fear of such heinous acts.
