PM Holness warns deportees from US against carrying out criminal acts in Jamaica
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has issued a warning to Jamaicans being deported from the United states against carrying out any criminal act in the island.
Over five thousand Jamaicans are to be deported from the U.S., as that country clamps down on illegal immigrants, based on new orders from President Donald Trump.
Yesterday, the Government explained that some persons set to be deported may have breached immigration laws, but have otherwise been law-abiding residents.
It noted that others have been convicted of very serious criminal offences, including violent crimes.
Speaking today, in St. James, Mr. Holness said persons who return with criminal intent will meet the judge or their maker.
Mr. Holness said the Government has been putting measures in place to treat with security issues.
He added that the country is prepared to welcome all hard working citizens who are returning.
