Jamaica Scorpions on top heading into final day against Windward Islands Volcanoes

The Jamaica Scorpions are in a dominant position as they head into the final day of their Regional Four-Day Championship first-round clash against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at Arnos Vale in St. Vincent.

Resuming on their overnight 72 for 1, the Scorpions declared their second innings at 277 for 7 in the post-tea session for a lead of 419. Jermaine Blackwood, who had scored a century in the first innings, was the standout batter of the day, contributing 75 runs. He shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 99 runs with Daniel Beckford, who finished the day unbeaten on 50.

In addition to Blackwood and Beckford, Odean Smith (35), Kirk McKenzie (46), and Brad Barnes (33) all made solid contributions. For the Volcanoes, Kenneth Dember was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5 for 95, while Shadrack Descarte chipped in with 2 for 36.

With 420 runs required for victory, the Volcanoes got off to a steady start in their second innings. Openers Jeremy Solozano and Stephan Pascal put on 51 for the first wicket before Solozano was dismissed for 26 by Jeavor Royal. Pascal, who remains unbeaten on 24, is currently at the crease alongside Keron Cottoy, who is not out on 8.

As the game stands, the Volcanoes need 355 runs on the final day with nine wickets in hand.

Guyana Harpy Eagles Thrash Barbados Pride for 10-Wicket Win

In other action, defending champions Guyana Harpy Eagles cruised to a dominant 10-wicket victory over Barbados Pride at the Guyana National Stadium. The Harpy Eagles wrapped up the match inside three days, after bundling Barbados out for 112 in their second innings.

Ritchie Looknauth was the standout bowler for Guyana, claiming figures of 5 for 23, while the Barbados batters struggled to build partnerships. Only Raymon Reifer (37), Jonathan Drakes (26), and Kevin Wickham (22) managed to reach double figures.

Chasing a modest target of 76, the Harpy Eagles made light work of the target, finishing on 78 without loss. Openers Tagenarine Chanderpaul (40) and Matthew Nandu (33) guided their team home with ease.

Leeward Islands Hurricanes Thrash West Indies Academy by 402 Runs

At the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes handed the West Indies Academy a heavy 402-run defeat. The Hurricanes, having declared their second innings at 289 for 9, dominated from the outset. Hayden Walsh was the hero with the ball, claiming 5 for 24, while Rahkeem Cornwall provided excellent support with 4 for 41 as the Academy were bundled out for 100 in their second innings.

Earlier, the Hurricanes had made 368 in their first innings, and with the Academy only able to muster 145 in their first innings, the task of chasing down the massive total was always going to be steep.
