Reggae In The Park as part of Reggae Month Celebration
Reggae music fans are in for a treat this February, as the 7th staging of “Reggae In The Park” takes over the Rose Duncan Park in Linstead, St. Catherine.
The event, which celebrates Reggae Month, promises an exciting lineup of activities and performances throughout the month. The festivities kick off on February 7 with the official opening of Reggae In The Park. Each week will feature a unique theme, with events including a Reggae ITP Film Fest on February 14, showcasing short films by Jamaican filmmakers which also includes a special tribute to National Hero Marcus Garvey.
February 16, will be highlighted by the Reggae ITP 5K ‘Umbuntu’ Love Run/Walk aimed at promoting peace and calm in the community. Proceeds from the event will support local schools and community groups.
Other highlights include the Reggae ITP Art Walk & Fashion Night Out on February 21, and the Reggae ITP Food Expo & Festival on February 28, featuring a premier Reggae concert with performances by Luton Fyah, Iba Mhar, Sativa the Black one, and more.
In a release coordinator of the festival Lacksdean Anderson, shared that Reggae In The Park was conceptualized in 2018 as a response to crime in the Linstead area. he noted that the mission was to use Reggae music and culture to bring back a positive vibration in the park.
