Kansas City Chiefs listed as early Super Bowl favourites

Two-time defending champions Kansas City Chiefs have opened as early favourites to secure a third consecutive title when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 in New Orleans.

At BetMGM, FanDuel Sportsbook, and others, the Chiefs have been installed as 1.5-point favorites over the Eagles. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has been nothing short of spectacular this post-season, is the betting favourite to win Super Bowl MVP for the fourth time in his career.

The 29 year old threw for 245 yards and a touchdown in a thrilling 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship on Sunday, while also running for two scores in a performance that led Kansas City to their fifth Super Bowl appearance in the last six seasons

While Mahomes continues to dominate the conversation, the Eagles aren’t without their own standout players. Running back Saquon Barkley, a finalist for both regular season MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, has been on a tear this post-season. Barkley has scored five touchdowns in three playoff games this season, making him one of the top contenders for Super Bowl MVP as well.

Kansas City whose 15-2 record was tied with the Detroit Lions for the best in regular season, started their post-season journey with a win over the Houston Texans before edging past Buffalo.

Meanwhile, the Eagles’ road to the big game was equally impressive. After finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record, they took down the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams before pulling off a dominant win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship.

This year’s championship game is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35 on February 12, 2023 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona to win a second title in four years.
