Police have increased their presence in Ellerslie Pen, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, following a disruption in the area this morning.

Residents clashed with lawmen who were reportedly trying to apprehend a person of interest.

Videos circulating on social media showed blocked roadways and damage to several service vehicles.

Commanding officer for the St. Catherine North Police Division Superintendent Hopton Nicholson says the roadways have been cleared and more lawmen have been deployed to maintain peace and order.

Superintendent Nicholson notes that persons found responsible for damaging the police service vehicles will be held accountable.

Meanwhile, the St. Catherine North Police have listed seven men as persons of interest.

They are to report immediately to the police.
