Christania Williams makes impressive debut at I.B.S.F Bobsleigh World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria

Jamaican Christania Williams had an impressive debut as a break-woman in the two-woman Bobsleigh competition at the I.B.S.F World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria on Sunday.

Williams the 2016 Olympic 4×100 meters relay silver medalist teamed up with Austria’s Katrin Beierl to finish eighth overall. 

The duo clocked the fourth and fifth fastest start times of the event and they completed their runs with a combined time of 1 minute 45.11 seconds.

For Beierl, a local hero and the 2021 overall World Cup winner, this marked a significant outing with her new push team-mate Williams the 2018 Commonwealth Games 100 metre silver medalist.  

The event was dominated by Olympic Champions Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi of Germany, who clinched victory with a new track record of 52.04 seconds in their second run on their way to a final time of 1 minute 44.09 seconds.
