Last season’s beaten finalists Mount Pleasant extended their lead at the top of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League to six points after a 2-0 victory over Arnett Gardens in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash on Sunday at the Drax Hall Complex.

Raheem Edwards opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, setting the tone for the St. Ann-based team, while Franco Celestin sealed the win with a goal 13 minutes from time. Mount Pleasant’s victory saw them strengthen their position atop the standings, now on 43 points from 18 matches. Arnett Gardens, who remain second, are six points adrift with 37 points.

The win marked Mount Pleasant’s 9th consecutive victory, a run that has propelled them to the top of the table. Additionally, the team remains unbeaten in their last 11 games, with their last defeat dating back to October 30, 2024.

Elsewhere on Match Day 18, Portmore United, currently 5th in the standings, produced a dominant performance, defeating Harbour View 4-0 at Ferdie Neita Park. Tedj Bryan was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick (4’, 28’, 67’) to lead Portmore to the comfortable win.
