President of Heart Institute of the Caribbean says only 18 cardiologists in Jamaica, posing challenge to proper heart care
Co-founder and President of the Heart Institute of the Caribbean, Dr. Dainia Baugh says there are only about eighteen cardiologists to cater to the nearly three million people living in Jamaica.
She says of that number, the majority is stationed in Kingston.
Dr. Baugh brought the information to the fore yesterday while speaking to reporters at the Institute’s Balmoral Avenue location in Kingston.
She was highlighting the various factors which pose challenges to proper heart health care.
Dr. Baugh also laments that critical heart health care is not accessible in all public health facilities.
