CPFSA providing support to 5YO who survived house fire in Walker’s Wood, St. Ann which claimed lives of 3 siblings
The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPSFA) is providing psychosocial and other support to the five-year-old boy who survived the house fire in Walker’s Wood, St. Ann, Sunday morning.
The boy, who was in a different section of the house with his grandmother when the blaze started, escaped harm in the fire that claimed the lives of his three siblings, seven-year-old Tashawna, two-year-old Tavaughno and four-year-old Tashawnie Mattis.
The CPFSA said upon learning of the tragedy, it dispatched first responders to the scene, immediately to assess the situation and to secure any child/children in need of care and protection.
It said its investigation has so far revealed that the surviving child had not been attending school since last September.
CPFSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Laurette Adams-Thomas said the Agency has arranged for the child’s temporary placement with his paternal family in the same community.
Investigations to determine the cause of the fire are ongoing.
