PNP describes claims by former candidate Lawrence Rowe, that he was offered millions in resources as he transitioned from caretaker post, as ‘spurious allegations

The People’s National Party (PNP) has described claims by former candidate Lawrence Rowe that he was offered millions in resources, as he transitioned from the post of caretaker for Central Kingston, as “spurious allegations”.

On Saturday the PNP announced that Mr. Rowe had been withdrawn as its candidate for Central Kingston in the upcoming general election.

Mr. Rowe is being replaced by former Senior Superintendent of Police, Steve McGregor.

In a statement last evening, the PNP said Mr. Rowe’s claims contradict the party’s long-standing policies and practices.

The party said it remains focused on upholding the principles of transparency and good governance.

It added that the matter will be addressed at a time convenient to the party.
