Head of the St. Andrew Central Division acting Senior Superintendent Mark Harris says officers will be taking swift action against criminals within the division.

The new divisional commander noted that since the last quarter of last year and into this year, there has been an increase in murders and violent incidents.

As such, he said a number of targeted raids have been launched.

He warned violence producers that the police will be coming for them.

He said the police are committed to the mission, which is to deliver professional and impartial services to protect life and property, maintain law and order, reduce crime and preserve peace.

According to data from the police, St Andrew Central has recorded 4 murders since the start of the year.

This is a 300 percent increase in murders in comparison to the similar period last year.
